Pravo-Justice experts met with Chairman of Council of Judges of Ukraine

Pravo-Justice Team Leader Dovydas Vitkauskas, international experts Reda Moliene and Anna Adamska met with the Chairman of the Council of Judges of Ukraine Oleg Tkachu to discuss the status of judicial self-government in Ukraine.

It is necessary to gradually build a system of admissibility of cases at the Supreme Court, to allow the court to focus only on serious legal issues, reduce the flood of cases before it, and focus on its main role to promote stability of the legal system through uniformity of practice. This was stated by Team Leader of EU-Project “Pravo-Justice” Dovydas Vitkauskas at the international conference “Public service and administrative proceedings”, which took place at the Supreme Court today.

EU-financed “Pravo-Justice” Project launched with a high-level conference

On 18 June 2018 the EU- financed project "Pravo-Justice" which will support the justice sector reform for the next 2.5 years launched its operations at a high-level conference in Kyiv. The Project will work with the Ukrainian counterparts to improve the country's justice sector policy and coordination, support the reforming of courts and judiciary governance bodies, the Ministry of Justice and its regulator role of private legal professions (lawyers, notaries, private enforcements officers, bankruptcy trustees).
