The main task of the report was to assess present state of UJITS development and its implementation status. The report was launched in March and covers the developments up to April.
Report prepared by Group of 3 international experts from Austria, Netherlands, Lithuania, with assistance of 2 experts from Ukraine Main purpose: review of Ukrainian law and practices in selection and evaluation of judges from point of view of comparative practices in advanced EU jurisdictions with higher degree of pubic trust in judiciary.
Goal: The new selection and evaluation procedures is unique, working, future fit and should be encouraged to continue; It has to/will be improved and harmonized (by practical experience, internal rules, standards and burden of proof of evidence); Ultimate aim: Balance between procedural safeguards and the exercise of discretion by decision makers. Raising public trust into judiciary.
